San Franciso de Macori

A width sky, beautiful beach and full of sunshine is my first impression of Dominican Republic. Located in the zone of Caribbean; near Cuba and Puerto Rico. The Dominican Republic is one of the Latin country in Central America. I’d been stay nearly half year long in a peaceful town it called San Franciso de Macori.

San Franciso de Macori is a second large city. Once I arrived there I went straight to top of our house to take a bird view of the town. Surrounding with the small house and palm tree. The highest building was built in the heart of the town. Which is a Catholic Church; still under construction? After I found a good place of our house. I always like to go there. Especially at sunset, it’s a worthy moment to looking around, because the reflection color blending with fruitful color, so beautiful !

In a peaceful town, traffic jam never appears over here. People keen on walking instead driving. However, on Sunday and holiday, you don’t feel peaceful anymore thus the day is a party day. You could hear Latino music Salsa and Merengue around the town. For every Dominicans, they used to gather together eating and dancing in the house. For us, we used to drive 2 hours long to Santiago. Shopping in the supermarket or visiting around. Dine or barbecue end of the day.

Weekday at San Franciso de Macori

On a weekday, all shops were closed during the lunchtime. We closed the shop and walking down three blocks to home. I’m thinking what kinds of food for lunch. Our cook is Sanda, as 19 years old pretty Dominican. She used to work half of the day and cook for us. The traditional food over here is so delicious such as

“Mangu” – banana mix butter, cheese, and onion
“Sancocho”- chicken, pumpkin, tomato, onion and potato
“Habichuela”- red bean
Sopa “Yuca”- fired cheese

Most of the people take a nap always after the lunchtime. For me, I like to find anything to do instead of sleeping. At that time, I was going up to the top of the house hanging clothes by myself. Because Sanda bears a baby nearly 4 months. It pretties hard for her to hanging the clothes with a big belly. Shape three o’clock, a bell was ringing. It takes a couple second long. Which is a big impact surrounding in a peaceful town!

If you were in San Franciso de Macori, you don’t have to check the clock you would know the time is back to work. I used to assist my sister working in her shop but I’m not busy at all. Thus, I don’t speak Spanish. So that I like to visit our relative and walk around with my mom. They run difference kind of shop around the street; we appreciate every much of look after them during the working hours. I enjoy our route cause I can look through what they’re selling. It’s really interesting. But the most important is I can get whatever I want to eat. Get some snack from my aunt’s store and eats a yummy chicken wing in other aunt’s store while they’re talking.

At night, my mom is used to cook for us. Of course, the recipes is Chinese style. However, the choice is much less, often time I want to eat any kind of Chinese food. But the sources were seldom to offer here.

Catch a taxi

sp7 sp5
The funniest experience in the Dominican Republic is a taxi service. Catch the taxi is always exciting for mine. All the taxi over here is extremely old and without window; even in capital city Santo Domingo.

Their service usually serves 5 to 6 passages. If you sit near window side. You have to hold the door thus most of the lock was damaged. You can picture how poor of it.

Once a time, I’d sit with a couple fat passages with my family on the way went home. We all closed together in a crowded taxi. Perhaps the influence of rhythmical dance music from the radio as well as their smiling face. You don’t feel annoyed of uncomfortable service.
